SUBMARINE MUSEUM
Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base
& Submarine Museum

Today Kingsland is enjoying the energy of renewed growth
due to the build-up of Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, Georgia the Atlantic coast home of the Trident Nuclear Submarine. For more information visit their official website at www.subasekb.navy.mil.

There are no regularly scheduled daily guided tours of Submarine Base Kings Bay. Guided group tours of base facilities and the waterfront (submarines) should be scheduled well in advance (sometimes as much as six months), and scheduled submarine tours can be cancelled or changed at a moment's notice due to operational commitments. Guided group tours of submarines are extremely limited due to operational commitments at the waterfront.

Because of heightened security, which was implemented on all military installations August 1998, reasonably justified tours are limited to active duty military, retired military, congressional employees, Department of Defense employees and their accompanying guests. In other words, all guests must be or have a sponsor who already would have access to the base, who knows his or her guests and is able to vouch for them, and who will accompany the guests during their tour.
The Subase tours coordinator can be reached at (912) 673-4714.

The Submarine Museum has a fascinating collection that tells the history of the submarine force in the US and abroad. The self-guided tour is approximately 1 to 2 hours and includes a fully operational submarine telescope offering a waterfront view of historic St. Marys, Georgia. Other items in the museum include a Submarine helm station, Submarine memorabilia, models, photos, patrol reports, a Submarine library, movies and more.
